NSW School Calendar 2020

Before discussing the terms, be sure about the particular divisions in New South Wales. And thus its New South Wales schools term dates are divided into two divisions that are Eastern and western division.
Eastern part of New South Wales is the most populated part. It is established under the Crown Lands Act 1884. Its primary purpose is just land management. Eastern division includes Sydney and some large coastal sides such as Newcastle and Wollongong.
And in the Western division of New South Wales, it includes Broken Hill, Bourke, Cobar, Cockbum, etc. with some western land boards of Griffith, Rankins Spring, Forbes, etc. Now the Commissioner of Western Land s is the part of the Department of lands.
Now the term one is divided into two main divisions, unlike others, and thus its terms should be divided into both divisions. Therefore the information given below is relevant to state, independent or Catholic schools. Though, these dates of terms or holidays can vary from school to school.
TERM 1 – Eastern Division: This term starts from Tuesday, 28 January 2020 and ends on Thursday, 9 April 2020.
TERM 1 – Western Division: This term starts from Tuesday, 4 February 2020 and finishes on Thursday, 9 April 2020.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS (AUTUMN VACATION): These vacations start from Friday, 10 April 2020 and ends on Sunday, 26 April 2020.
TERM 2- This term starts on Monday, 27 April 2020, and finishes on Friday, 3 July 2020.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS (WINTER VACATION): These vacations are from Saturday, 4 July 2020 Sunday and ends on 19 July 2020.
TERM 3 – This term is from Monday, 20 July 2020 and ends on Friday, 25 September 2020.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS (SPRING VACATION): These starts from Saturday, 26 September 2020 and ends on Sunday, 11 October 2020.
TERM 4 – This term starts from Monday, 12 October 2020 and ends on Friday, 18 December 2020.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS DURING SUMMER – Western Division: these are from Saturday, 19 December 2020 and finishes on Week beginning Monday, 25 January 2021.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS DURING SUMMER – Eastern Division: These are from Saturday, 19 December 2020 and ends on Week beginning Monday, 2 February 2021.
As in dates mentioned above, there is a difference between the dates of terms in eastern and western divisions. There is a difference of approx one week in starting dates of term 1. The differences n these divisions are due to some historical precedents and geographical variables. The western division has a high temperature during January so to spare staff and students these schools return after a week as compared to eastern division.
